The Mathematics, Analytics, and Data Science Lab is situated within the Fields Institute and is part of the Centre for Quantitative Analysis and Modelling (CQAM).
CQAM Labs were established through the generous funding from the Government of Ontario to position the province as an international leader in developing and deploying advanced mathematical methodologies to support the emerging knowledge economy.
As part of our mandate, we collaborate with industry partners to solve complex problems that require computationally efficient algorithms. We use advanced modelling techniques, machine learning models, and AI to devise solutions that lead to innovative products & services and process improvement.
Our lab also trains highly skilled personnel in the area of health informatics with a focus on modelling, computation, bioinformatics, biostatistics, optimization, data analysis, and experimental design.
We also conduct research in partnership with the National Research Council Canada as part of the NRC-Fields Mathematical Sciences Collaboration Centre.
TEAM
Arvind Gupta is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. He has served as President and Vice-Chancellor of UBC, and as the CEO and Scientific Director of Mitacs Inc. He is also a founder of Palette Skills Inc. He has published extensively on theoretical computer science, computational genomics and national innovation strategies.
Huaxiong Huang is Professor of Mathematics at the York University. He is VP (Academic) and Executive Director of Research Center of Mathematics (Zhuhai, China). He has served as Deputy Director of the Fields Institute and Director of the Fields Centre for Quantitative Analysis and Modelling. His wide array of publications in applied mathematics focus on fluid mechanics and scientific computing, finance, biology, physiology, energy and medicine.
Faisal Habib manages the research portfolio at the Health Analytics and Modelling Lab at the Fields Institute. Faisal has over two decades of experience in various capacities at financial and technology firms. Faisal was instrumental in the success of QWeMA Group – a fintech startup incubated at the Fields Institute and later acquired by Cannex Financial Exchanges where he assumed the role of VP of Research.
